Wow, it's been more than a year since I posted this blog. I'm pathetic. So many ups and downs in this journey.
But, I am back on track and my surgery has been scheduled. 9/20 at 3:30pm.
I'm at work now, so I just wanted to start a new post to kick myself in the ass to try to continue. I'll update on everything that has been going on leading up to my surgery being scheduled.
Hmmm I'm going to give this a try...

My first BLOG post
So, I guess I'm giving this a try! We'll see how it goes. I'm not really going to publicize this to my friends and family just yet. I'm kind of just doing it for me. I have found that getting things down in writing and out of my head helps me tremendously. I get it out and make room for new thoughts.
My primary reason for starting this blog is to help me with weight loss. I need some accountability for myself. If I feel I have a place I need to keep track of things, I will be more apt to actually stay on the track I have created.
I've been overweight for most of my adult life. In the last several months, I started thinking about weight loss surgery. I did a ton of research, including checking with my insurance company to see if it was covered. It is. So after much more thought and consideration, I decided to go for it. I am currently in my 6 month approval period. I'm losing weight on my own right now. It feels wonderful. Since April 20th, I have dropped 25lbs. It's completely amazing to me that I was able to do that just by making a few minor changes. I cut out 90% of fast food, 100% of take out food and added in some exercise.
I've gradually been telling more and more people about this journey that I am on. At first, it was just immediate family. I told my sister, then my mom, then my husband and so on. My boss knows now as well as several very close friends. I was relieved to know that everyone is on board and being very supportive. I think that the support is very important.
My main reason for attempting this weight loss is my daughter Angelina and my husband Justin. Justin and I waited a long time to begin our family. I was 36 when I became pregnant. Most of my friends my age already had children who were in double digit ages at this time. Or at least several children in their brood. Angelina was born in December 2007. She is awesome and she is my inspiration for wanting to get healthy. I want to be here and be able to do things with her that are fun! I need to be able to keep up with her. Right now, my weight is somewhat holding me back. I can't do everything that I want to do because it's just not comfortable for me.
Lucky for me, I have a great husband who is also on board for this new health kick of ours. He is losing weight too and he looks fabulous! Both of us want to be a good example to our daughter and we are stopping this cycle of obesity once and for all.
That's all I'm going to write for now. Just the basics. I'm not sure how often I'll post. We'll see when the mood strikes.
